A Look at Shelter Life, More tales from the Sally.

This morning I took some more pictures and a video to try to give my readers a better idea of what live is like in this shelter I am staying in.

I have included pictures of our bathroom and shower facilities, some random shots from the dorm and one 360 degree video shoot around the dorm this morning in negative. Just for the hell of it I also threw in a video of a crazy guy telling a story about running Japanese tourist out of his neighborhood with rocks and sticks after noticing them taking pictures of the place.

Park Review: Fairview, Normal IL

As I travel around the country, living the fine, free, hobo life style I want to try to blog about things that are relevant to the local community I am in at the time. Hopefully I can gain some local readers who come for the coverage of a local event, or place and stay because they find the ride interesting and fun. I am an avid lover of parks. Little bastions of nature in urban sprawl. So as I go through communities I'll be doing reviews of their local parks. These will be heavy on pictures.


The first park to be honored by my tramping is Fairview Park in Normal, IL . This park is located just north of the Illinois State campus. Its a nice large park with lots of open spaces. It has a water park during the summer months, and plenty of room for just about any outdoor activity the rest of the year. It features several tennis courts, and skating park, baseball diamond, and a rustic creek. Fairview Park earns 8 out of a possible 10 bottles of cheap malt liquor.

One of the fastest growing and most popular services many of Americas public library's offer today is public computers with Internet access. This has opened the doors of technology to many people who would otherwise find it out of reach. While library's are generally very anti-censorship many have given into public calls for content filters on their networks.

Blackie, My Traveling Companion

All the pictures, and video's you see on the site will come from my trusty companion 'Blackie'. While he is no iPhone, I'm pretty happy with what he provides me in my travels. First off of course Blackie is a Samsung Blackjack phone. While much, much cheaper then the coveted iPhone, I personally feel it offers just about all the same features. As a phone it serves me pretty much as well as any other standard cell phone would. I'm on AT&T's wireless network so have pretty good coverage. As a smart phone it does some with Internet. However I feel that both Blackie my beloved Blackjack and the iPhone really both come up short here. AT&T's network just isn't all that fast. However no of that stuff is the reason Blackie is my constant friend. With the add of some software upgrades Blackie has become a hell of a portable media player.

The Joys of Higher Education

Its may surprise you to learn that being homeless I do not have my own Internet provider. Or Computer. So stage one of my story will be documented in large part from the Milner Library at Illinois State University. Blackie snagged this picture of it as we where walking up to the building today. (More on Blackie later)

I.S.U. provides one of two places in Bloomington for indigent nerds like myself to access the Internet.
